On the margins of the CSW69, WIIS Italy has promoted the virtual event “Women for Peace and Security – A Focus on Women’s Resilience and Advocacy” to highlight women’s resilience and advocacy in Ukraine’s conflict-affected areas and identify strategies to ensure gender perspectives are embedded in any political and negotiating process and in any reconstruction and recovery efforts.

The event has represented a crucial opportunity to amplify women’s voices in peace and security discussions and to advocate for a gender-responsive reconstruction process.

In 2024, WIIS Italy conducted extensive consultations with representatives of Ukrainian organizations and independent researchers to examine the roles women play in promoting peace and security in Ukraine. These efforts culminated in the production of the report “Women for Peace and Security – A Focus on Women’s Resilience and Advocacy in Ukraine”, which has served as the foundation of discussion at the event.
