WOMEN FOR PEACE AND SECURITY. A focus on Women’s Resilience and Advocacy in Ukraine

Supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, WIIS Italy is carrying out a project aimed at the gradual creation of an informal network of Ukrainian women engaged in various capacities in the promotion of peace and security, giving visibility to the work they are doing, also in order to strengthen their action and promoting both the participation of women in decisions on the future of the country and the inclusion of a gender perspective in all phases of the conflict.
To this end, over the past year, closed-door meetings and bilateral experience-sharing exchanges were facilitated with women mediators, negotiators, and political leaders from countries with a history of conflict; facilitated focus groups to gather their perspectives and recommendations on the role of women in peace and security efforts, as well as their expected role in post-conflict recovery, to be conveyed in international forums, and compiled into a final report.
