The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Rome and WIIS Italy are pleased to invite you to a WIIS ITALY networking aperitif:
“Mediation as a peaceful mechanism for conflict resolution: what role for women?”
A conversation with Min. Francesca Tardioli (Deputy Political Director for the United Nations and Human Rights, MAECI).
On January first, Poland joined the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, right after Italy finished its mandate on December 31,2017. During its term, Italy worked for enhancing its contribution to the effort of “building peace for tomorrow.” A key component of Italy’s commitment is to strengthen the role of women as drivers of peace across the whole conflict cycle. Acknowledging the need to foster women’s participation in a key region for global peace and stability, Italy decided to establish a Mediterranean Women Mediators Network in collaboration with Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and Women in International Security Italy (WIIS). The event will represent an opportunity to discuss the importance of mediation as a peaceful mechanism for conflict resolution and what role should have women in building peace and preventing new conflicts from occurring.
Refreshments will be served after the event
