The WIIS Italy Book Club presents “La ragazza con l’Europa in tasca”!
Lavinia Monti’s debut book portrays the life of Ludovica, who was born in an elegant
neighbourhood of Rome in the late 1970s. Her childhood is marked by her mother’s Catholic-socialist decisions: catechism, scout group and popular school. During his high school years, he came across the differences between his former and current classmates: political ideals, the areas
to be frequented and, in a broader sense, the approach to everyday life. Once she starts
university, Ludovica realises that she has Europe in her pocket: between first loves, Erasmus,
holidays with friends and a prestigious internship, her journey proceeds at a furious pace. And
even if she sometimes wonders: “What am I doing here?”, she does not let herself be discouraged,
continuing to search for her place in the world.
During the meeting, the author will dialogue with Nicoletta Pirozzi, Vice President of WIIS Italy.
The event will be broadcast live on our Facebook page and on our YouTube channel on 18 October
at 6.30 pm.
We look forward to seeing you!
