Alessandra Dardes

In charge of the Networking Happy Hours

After graduating in Political Science at the University of Padua and has worked for years in a Parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies, where she took care of the Foreign and Defense Commissions. As a freelance journalist, she has written for the Ministry of Defence’s magazine on European Defence issues.

Because of her sensitivity to gender issues and international studies, she approached WIIS Italy, where she is an active member.

Currently, she is in charge of the communication of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs project on mediation in peace processes with a gender perspective in the Mediterranean area.

Per la sua sensibilità alle questioni di genere e gli studi internazionalistici, si è avvicinata a WIIS Italy di cui è membro attivo.

Attualmente si occupa della comunicazione di un progetto del Ministero degli Esteri sulla mediazione nei processi di pace in chiave di genere nell’area del Mediterraneo.

 

Serena Giusti

Serena Giusti is a professor of International Relations at the Sant’Anna School of Pisa where she coordinates the Research Group on Eastern Europe, Russia and Eurasia and the Art and Politics program, which is her passion.

She has been a visiting lecturer at numerous universities including Luiss in Rome, New York University in Florence, Novosibirsk State University, Belarus State University, Kazakh Humanitarian Law University, High School of Economics in Moscow and was a visiting researcher at Westminster University in London.

She is Senior Associate Research Fellow of the Institute of International Political Studies (ISPI) in Milan. Since 2017 she has been the Vice-President of the “Forum for Peace and War Problems” in Florence. She also worked for the European Commission, for Unicef-icdc and for the OSCE.

She has published extensively on Russia’s foreign policy, the EU’s external policies, the transformation of Central and Eastern Europe and the post-Soviet space and on security issues.

She graduated from Cesare Alfieri in Florence in political science and holds a Master of Arts in European Studies from the College of Europe (Natolin-Warsaw) and a PhD in “Political and Social Sciences” from the European University Institute from Fiesole.

 

Enzo Maria Le Fevre Cervini

Enzo Maria Le Fevre Cervini is the Director of Research and Cooperation at the Budapest Center for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities and professor of international law and diplomacy at Luiss Guido Carli. He was the first man to become a part of WIIS ITALY.

 

Giorgia Santamaria

Giorgia graduated in International Relations and Human Rights with a Masters in International Conflict Studies from King’s College London. She is a program assistant at the Institute of International Affairs. In addition to supporting the Institute’s training program and the logistical management of the non-proliferation and disarmament project, she is part of the Secretariat of the Network of Women Mediators in the Mediterranean area through which she has become a part of WIIS Italy.

Before working at IAI she was Assistant to Public Engagement and managed the Secretariat of the President of Oxfam Italia.

Always passionate about international issues, for WIIS Italy, Giorgia takes care of membership and gives general support to the development of various initiatives and activities.

 

Silvia Francescon

Esperta di strategia sulla governance globale, negoziatrice internazionale e senior policy advisor per diversi governi. Ha lavorato in molte Organizzazioni internazionali (ONU, OCSE, WTO, UE) e nel governo italiano (Ufficio del Primo Ministro e Ministero dell’Ambiente). Ha diretto per diversi anni un think tank che si occupa di geopolitica. Laureata con lode in diritto internazionale, ha conseguito il master in diritto internazionale dell’ambiente presso il SOAS di Londra.

 

Costanza Hermanin

Costanza Hermanin ha lavorato presso la Fulbright Schuman Research Scholar, occupandosi di Ricerca comparata (UE/USA) sulle istituzioni pubbliche contro la discriminazione e l’attività giudiziaria in materia di norme anti-discriminazione e di formazione sulle attività di clinical education in materia di discriminazione e immigrazione.

Ha poi collaborato con l’Open Society Foundations, dove nello specifico si è occupata di diritti umani in Italia e di uguaglianza e immigrazione a livello UE, per la Commissione europea, il Ministero degli esteri francese e il World Bank Research Institute. E’ stata socia fondatrice di RENA ed ha elaborato, con Miriam Anati, l’idea alla base del progetto www.openmigration.org.

Attualmente insegna “Politiche europee” a Sciences-Po Paris e “Negoziato interistituzionale nell’Unione europea” al Collegio d’Europa di Bruges. Lavora a Roma come Segretaria Particolare del Sottosegretario di Stato alla Giustizia On. Gennaro Migliore, occupandosi di realizzare progetti relativi all’accesso al culto musulmano, alla prevenzione della radicalizzazione in carcere e alla de-radicalizzazione; di monitorare la giurisdizione in materia d’asilo e relative proposte di riforma e di svolgere analisi e proposte in relazione a problematicità di singole carceri.

 

Azzurra Meringolo

In charge of the Blog

Azzurra Meringolo Scarfoglio loves the Middle East. After periods in Jerusalem, Tunis and Rabat, in 2010 she landed in Cairo. She went there to stay for six months and finish her doctorate, but she lived there for much longer, covering the revolution of the boys of Tahrir Square for national and international newspapers. She dedicated her debut book (Montanelli Prize 2013) and her blog on this. Her doctoral thesis – republished as ” The anti-American dream “, Clueb 2017 – won the Maria Grazia Cutuli award.

In 2014 she received the Franco Cuomo International Award for the non-fiction section. As a professional journalist not giving up on research, she started at the Institute of International Affairs as a researcher and editor in chief of Affarinternazionali. There, She designs and coordinates the Arab Media Report, the first Italian webzine on the Arab media. In Rai she made her debut with Egyptian correspondences, she became presenter of Radio 3 Mondo and is a part of the foreign editorial staff of the Radio Rai newspaper. She is a adjunct professor of the Journalism Master of the University of Bologna and of the University of Rome Tre. She is Member of the German Marshall Fund leadership Council. In 2019 she published Fuga dall’Egitto, Investigation into the post-coup diaspora, Infinit.

Rosa Vinciguerra

Rosa Vinciguerra ha conseguito la laurea in Sociologia presso l’Università “Federico II” di Napoli.
Rosa ha lavorato in diversi ambiti organizzativi, sia pubblici sia privati, occupandosi di ricerca e progettazione sociale; organizzazione e gestione delle risorse umane; comunicazione interna ed esterna e formazione.

Attualmente è Gender Advisor delle Forze Armate.
